Throughout my reading, the article that got me intrigued is the story about the albinos in some countries in africa. I have chosen this article since it got me interested in how albinos are getting treated. In fact, Albinos in Tanzania are being cast out by their family, in some tribes they get killed after they get birthed. Sadly, albinos are also being sought for their body parts as the witch doctors use them to make a potion for good luck and bring wealth. "Your stories represent the challenges that we are all here to confront. They will inspire and remind us of the very real effects of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance on lives everywhere." This quote by Al Shaymaa J. Kwegyir inspired many people to fight back and changed people's perspective, especially the people who were Albino. This demonstrates the negative effects of discrimination on society. “People fear for what they don’t understand”, This relates to the Albinos in Tanzania who were being discriminated against, because they are different. They have a different skin colour. This story is important because it informs and educates people about the physical features of albinos and stopping the pursuit of albinos for their body parts.
