Volcano Project

Our aim was to construct a volcano using newspapers and a milk gallon also erupting it.

Method - Fill the gallon with baking soda and vinegar it will create a chemical reaction representing the volcano erupting.

Hypothesis - 12 to 1 ratio, adding vinegar to baking soda gives you an immediate reaction. Adding baking soda to vinegar, the reaction is delayed but then fizzes the same amount. More vinegar is better. A 12 to 1 ratio of vinegar to baking soda caused a fizzing explosion.

Equipment - Newspapers, milk gallon, glue, cardboard and paint.

What does my painting depict?

The subject matter of my painting is a rose

How did I create the different tones?

I used diluted white acrylic paint to make a  thin wash.  I brushed this on the painting paper with the black gesso. This created a grey tone. To make lighter, grey tones, I added second and third layers of wash.

How did you compose your subject matter?

It’s a centred composition and it’s filled with negative space

Is your subject matter symbolic or does it express an idea?

There’s no really a particular idea about my work.

How did you paint the highlights?

Is the negative space important in your painting?

I layered my painting with a brighter white paint

Yes, the negative spaces made my composition being the centre of attraction

Children of B&B Essay Practice -- Writing SEXXYY Paragraphs

The novel ‘Children of blood and bone’ by Tomi Adeyemi is about a girl named Zelie who was trying to restore magic for her people with the help of her friends. In the text, the relationship between Inan and Zelie helped me to understand Inan. This is because it showed me a love-hate relationship between everyone and his father, and him changing throughout the story, also the betrayal that he shows both to his father and Zelie.

The incident of Amari’s rebellion and how Amari changes throughout the story helped me to understand the important idea of character development because it showed me that how can someone change. We see this in the text when Amari stole the scroll and ran it off accidentally met Zelie. This means that Amari thinks stealing the scroll would change something. This made the reader feel surprised and amazed because how can someone from a weak and fragile person becomes strong and brave individual. It reminded me of another important part in the book when Zelie killed someone on the ship while they were fighting for the sunstone because this also shows the idea of character development. In the real world, this idea is important because it makes a person better and more responsible for each move they make.

Learning outcome:
We are learning to write an essay using S.E.X.X.Y. paragraph method.

Essay Pre - planning

Tzain as her partner and Zelie more of a new Binta which is very hard to believe from where they started off wanting too kill each other too becoming a very strong team. My second explanation is Amari has completely broken out of her shell from being a shy and very quite and unphased girl too a warrior fighter basically overnight really has shaped her and her attitude towards the reality of the life outside of the palace. Lastly Amari’s learned whilst being with Tzain and Zelie and meeting all the effected diviners and maji that her father's vision is horrible and evil, she was able to get past his crazy lifestyle and relise she can build her own future and decide on her own what she needs and wants to do.

Our group's chosen character is Amari, we decided on this particular character because of her changes throughout the journey of bringing magic back and so on. From being this shy broken girl too becoming an absolute warrior has been a very amazing transformation for Amari, having too betray her royal family for the safe sake of magic and the diviners have really given her the opportunity to show her own potential and brush off that horrible attitude and mindset her fathers pushed on her for her whole life. Including convincing her brother that he doesn't have to be like their father King Saran, they can choose their own pathway.
